Playground (Rolon 10/21/06 9:46pm)
Dear neighbours:
Does anyone know if there are any initiatives to build a children palyground in our neighbourhood?
If not, is there anything I and other parents can do to start this initiative?
Thank you,

Hi Anna, I don't know what to do about a children's playground, but maybe you could contact John Morroni, who is our County Commissioner. His email address is: jmorroni@pinellascounty.org. I believe he lives in the community. I think he would be your best bet. (SPONSOR 11/18/06 7:56pm) REPLY
Did you go to the A-Maize-ing Play Space meeting regarding the new park on Dec 9th? For additional information, go to www.feathersound.org. (SPONSOR 12/10/06 1:08pm) REPLY
We received a flyer for this "non-event". It is an open plea for $$$$ to "sponsor" the playground. This playground concept was the ORIGINAL idea behind the formation of the Feather Sound Special Taxing District or whatever they call it. Hundreds of thousands of dollars have been collected over the years. Land was acquired, plans made, boardwalks and canopy were built, but no play ground equipment. A basketball court and a very small softball area, I won't even call it a field are evident. Yes, the money collected also goes to the maintenance of the common areas in the subdivision. Watering, lighting, etc. But to have people now start calling for more $$$$ to fund a playground we ALREADY have been paying for is silly. Yes, we need such a place. BUt I want to see it come from the money we have paid rather than being asked to cough up more. Besides the shelter on the boardwalk, there is no protection from the rain or lightning. A picnic shelter was proposed YEARS ago as a Scout eagle project. The board of the taxing district couldn't even convene enough members to establish a voting quorum to consider or approve it. Since the leadership and membership of that group has changed in recent years, you've seen marked improvement in the Main entry to FS and the upkeep of the common areas with trees planted and landscaping. Let's try to install the common swings, slides and climb-upons that kids like. Let's also put a fence around the equipment with a bench or three inside. Moms need a place to safely watch their kids from. The staked areas are kinda close to FS Blvd. A chainlink fence would keep the kids within the play area and out of the mangroves/underbrush that abutts the proposed area.
