Traffic lights (SPONSOR 11/18/06 5:37pm)
If you are sick and tired of waiting for so long at the traffic lights (Feather Sound Drive/Ulmerton and Egret Blvd/Ulmerton) in and out of here, please write about it to Dr. Delay at the St. Petersburg Times. The email address is docdelay@yahoo.com
Hopefully some attention can help us out. (SPONSOR 11/18/06 5:37pm) REPLY
Sorry Ike, I don't sit at my computer every minute. Messages need to be approved before posting. I don't change content, but I might remove some language that might be offensive. Thanks for providing information, I will be writing to Dr. Delay. I only wish they could have done something with the three lanes of traffic we have to cross on Ulmerton because they didn't give us an exit going northbound off I-275 and have to exit on Roosevelt. I'm surprised that there aren't more accidents. (SPONSOR 11/18/06 8:02pm) REPLY

Hi Ms. Pitney--
I am not working on a story re: the roads you mention, but I am happy to pass your concerns regarding the traffic signals to the folks at the county who manage the system.
Re: your comment on the exit design on I-275, I am forwarding your comment on to the DOT and perhaps they might explain the design decisions to us.
Thanks for writing--

I forwarded your e-mail to Ken Jacobs yesterday (see e-mail path below). He is the traffic signal operations manager for Pinellas County. His office is very responsive and hopefully they will check the signal asap. The phone number for traffic operations (Mr. Jacobs' office) is 464-8928.

Ms. Pitney: Here is some information for you and a little history on this interchange.
The Ulmerton interchange was built originally as a partial interchange serving only movements to and from Tampa. A few years ago based on a request from development and the City of St. Pete, an Interchange Modification Report (IMR) was submitted to the Federal Highway Administration. The report included completing the interchange meaning serving to and from the south. The northbound to westbound flyover was included in the IMR that we had approved, however it was part of a second phase and it is not budgeted to be built any time soon due to the cost.
