The most honored female country performer of all time, Dolly Parton, returns to Ruth Eckerd Hall on Monday, October 20 at 8 pm as part as part of the 2008-2009 Backwoods Barbie World Tour. Tickets go on sale this Friday, August 8 at 10 am. Dolly’s prolific songwriting includes I Will Always Love You, which topped the charts in 1974 and 1982, making Dolly the first to have a number one hit twice with the same song. Whitney Houston rerecorded this song in 1992 in The Bodyguard, bringing it to the top of the charts for a third time. This Country Music Hall of Fame inductee has garnered 7 Grammy® Awards, 5 Academy of Country Music Awards, 10 CMA’s and is only one of five female artists to win the CMA’s Entertainer of the Year Award. She has achieved 25 gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards, 25 number-one singles (a record for a female performer) and 41 top-10 albums (more than anyone else). In 2006 she was honored by the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts for her lifetime of contributions to the arts.
